In places where land based casinos are not legal and they are by the sea, there are floating casinos. The ships just have to sail far enough into international waters and the gambling is legal. Many vacation cruise ships have had casinos in them for years because they spend most of their time in international waters. Florida is a state with many casinos, most of them on ships. Miami is second to Las Vegas in terms of casino gambling and the reason is the number of cruise ship gambling that they offer, not so much land based. Gambling cruises can be had on both the East and West Coast of Florida.  The ships sail three miles out on the East Coast and nine miles out in the Gulf of Mexico.

These floating casinos are Las Vegas style casino boats and offer all of the games. Some charge admittance fees, others don’t.  In floating casinos are being introduced by Fiesta Cruise Line.  Their first cruise ship will be in Veracruz and they plan to offer five others in different parts of the country. California, on the West Coast, also offers gambling cruises.  There are a total of sixteen floating casinos to choose from.  Most are offered by Princess Cruises. They too must sail into international waters before the gambling can begin. Floating casinos operate in Louisiana and other coastal areas, where they can sail outside the state limits and offer gambling.  This mode of gambling is becoming quite popular for casino games.
